Ill. House wants gas tax holiday

I should ask, how is everyone doing as far as gas? What do you think about this gas tax holiday reported in Crain's?
House Republicans are calling for a suspension of the Illinois sales tax on gasoline this summer.

Lawmakers claim the average family would save up to $60 over a four-month tax holiday. Truckers might save $1,000.

State revenues would drop by roughly $200 million at a time when the budget is already out of balance. But supporters say the tax break would help stimulate the economy.

Republican lawmakers are calling on Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan to allow a vote on their idea.
In other news the Governor seems to be out of the loop as far as gas prices. Probably not a huge story however it still worth sharing. Perhaps he's not relating to those who have to pay these gas prices.
